Two honest annotations. First, the ten-day review can extend where objective reasons exist — in individual cases up to three months — and citizens of countries subject to additional checks should plan toward the upper end from the start, treating detailed questionnaires as standard procedure with firm deadlines rather than as bad news. Second, the stages that look small compound: a criminal record certificate legalizing abroad while a consulate queue runs three weeks is how ten business days become a quarter.
What Actually Compresses the Calendar
The accelerations that work are all preparation-shaped. The employer's side filed cleanly the first time — no tax debts, salary at the threshold, position properly described — prevents the extensions that dwarf any official term. Documents ordered early and in parallel, with the consulate slot booked while they assemble. Questionnaire answers drafted before the questions arrive. And one genuine shortcut for candidates already lawfully in Latvia: filing locally, which removes the consulate queue from the equation entirely.
