The Latvia golden visa processing time is formally 30 days — that's OCMA's standard document review term, with expedited options at 10 or 5 business days. The number every applicant should actually plan around is different: three to six months from engagement to residence cards, based on our completed investor cases at CORVUS, an attorney-at-law office in Riga. A smooth case with EU-issued documents closes in about three.
The difference isn't bureaucratic padding — it's everything around the review.
Where the Months Actually Go
Before submission (roughly 6–14 weeks). Engagement and KYC take one to three weeks; investment formalities from two weeks; invitation approval two to four weeks; and document collection with apostilles or legalizations — the biggest variable — three to eight weeks, especially for non-Hague countries like the UAE or Egypt where full legalization is required. An embassy appointment can add up to three more weeks in busy consulates.
The review itself. Thirty days formally — but in investor cases, plan for an extension of two to three months with additional questions and the mandatory State Security Service opinion. This is a normal feature of investment-based applications, not a warning sign, and no expedite fee shortens the security check.
After the decision (about 3–4 weeks; less with the urgent card). The D visa takes around two weeks; then a few days in Latvia for the health check and biometrics, and the card — 10 business days standard, 2–3 business days urgent.
